Stanford Ovshinsky, the 84 year old founder of Energy Conversion Devices has been described as the Thomas Edison of our time. He is a self-taught engineer, inventor,
and physicist. He discovered a world of amorphous materials which enabled the hydrogen age to evolve. This led to new types of semiconducters, rechargeable batteries, rewriteable CDs. The solar energy industry, the hydrogen fuel cell industry, the battery for the electric car, photovoltaic materials for solar panels.. all came from the mind of Stanford Ovshinsky. The materials he developed are used in photocopy machines, fax machines and LCD displays. It is our privilege to have interviewed Stan.
