If you could talk to the animals and they could talk back, what would they say?
Millions of animals suffer and die each year in testing of consumer
products, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology research.
Abusive practices are rampant throughout many industries,
and includes some of the most horrific torture imaginable.
Animals are living beings, and have rights. They don’t
exist simply for their usefulness, and they are as capable
of suffering as we. The inhumane use of animals in the
entertainment, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries
must be avoided.
Millions of rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, dogs, primates,
and other animals are subjected to inhumane treatment
by companies trying to determine product safety. Acute
toxicity tests, commonly called lethal dose tests, are
used to determine the amount of a substance that will
kill. The effects of such experimentation include convulsions,
labored breathing, diarrhea, skin eruptions, bleeding
from the eyes, nose, or mouth, and death.
The incredible truth is that this type of testing is
virtually useless. There are other ways to test products
that are far more effective. With the technology available
today, this type of science is antiquated. We can use
computer models, an effective way that produces superior
results –yet, the inhumane testing of animals
still continues.
The stories of abuse in food production are well documented.
On factory farms, animals are caged, often with not
enough room to turn around. Imagine living your life
this way.
Companies who participate in the inhumane treatment of animals are not worthy of your investment dollars. Social investment screens out companies that exploit animals in inhumane testing and treatment. |
